Tooth and claw

(Music by Tom Levin. Lyrics by Tom Levin & Cole Ruth)

Anna calls the doctor for the second time today
Her hand on my shoulder says that it will be okay
Even though the odds are good that things will turn around
It’s hard to hear their words when things are upside down

I know that crevices they start with a hairline crack
And people can start as whole but fall apart real fast
Still I take comfort in what we have learnt by heart
That a dormant seed will grow to cover up the scars

Tooth and claw we’re fighting to mend
And day by day the bleeding ends
Knowing that we’re going now to get through thick and thin
Getting stronger in our longing for the life we will begin, we begin

Beneath the frozen ground asleep and out of sight
There awaits a beauty only known to others eyes
But I’m sure that we will know the secret in good time
And awake to great our child with arms open wide

Tooth and claw we’re fighting to mend
And day by day the bleeding ends
Knowing that we’re going now to get through thick and thin
Getting stronger in our longing for the life we will begin, we begin

Bedtime stories and lullabies
Hush now baby don’t you cry
Bedtime stories and lullabies

Tooth and claw we’re fighting to mend
And day by day the bleeding ends
Knowing that we’re going now to get through thick and thin
Getting stronger in our longing for the life we will begin
We begin, we begin, we begin and we will mend, we begin
